“It is not the function of our government to keep the citizens from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error.”
– Justice Robert H. Jackson (spoken at the Nuremberg trials)

The prosecution of Nazi war criminals convened in 1945 and lasted into 1949. The horrific medical trials are the most commonly known, but all should have importance to our society. We need to remember what can and has happened and never knowingly allow such atrocities to happen again.

For more information on the trials the <a href="http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/imt/imt.htm"">Yale law site has the greatest number of translated document I found in a quick search, but can be a bit cumbersom and oversized.

The Harvard site is the cleanest source I have found on the Nuremberg trials and for a lot of documents displays the original english translations. However, with fewer transcripts available it is definately a work in progress and for historical reasons, I hope that it one day has more than just the medical case completed.

“The framers of the Bill of Rights did not purport to ‘create’ rights. Rather, they designed the Bill of Rights to prohibit our Government from infringing rights and liberties presumed to be pre-existing.”

Justice William J. Brennan, 1982
